A leader in manufacturing, our client needed to configure and deploy a technology platform within the organisation. Forming part of a wider business initiative, the platform would act as a marketplace for purpose initiatives, bringing staff together through sharing, visualisation and collaboration.

Due to the lack of internal capability and SME knowledge, business stakeholders identified a need for quality skills to drive the initiative forward and oversee the assessment of business requirements, configuration and deployment.

Our mandate was to work collaboratively with their technical and non-technical associates to define an appropriate project schedule, and with a provider who understood the client’s principles and culture in order to effectively drive the purpose of the project. An established knowledge transfer framework was required to ensure all intellectual property from the engagement would be transitioned, maintaining the momentum of the new technology platform.


Definia’s solution included consultant management, reporting and knowledge transfer. Our client had a restricted budget for this project and therefore competitive commercials were also a key consideration of our proposed solution.

Key deliverables included an agreed project charter, technical readiness, agreeing a governance model, establishing BAU ways of working and knowledge transition.

We supported the delivery and smooth transition of an off-the-shelf technology platform through:

  • Defining and managing the delivery team
  • Idea generation
  • Driving an effective project kick off
  • A project plan and setting the cadence for project meetings
  • Gathering user requirements and sign off
  • User and technology workshops
  • Supporting the management of the chosen technology vendor (including a review of other potential suppliers when negotiations hit a stumbling block with the chosen platform).

Definia helped to build a platform allowing our client’s associates to take action that has a meaningful impact on bottom-up initiatives, strengthening company culture and fulfilling its purpose both in their day-to-day roles and through activities that can impact local communities.
